Safety & Security

Government office hours are typically from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and closed on weekends.
Banks are open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and are closed on weekends.
The department stores are open every day, including Sundays, from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Climate and Apparel

Seoul, located in a temperate zone, enjoys four distinct seasons. The city experiences sunny days with clear skies, making light clothing ideal. In May, temperatures generally range from 12°C to 22°C. A light jacket is recommended for the evenings, and for tours, it's advisable to wear comfortable shoes and a hat..

Currency

The South Korean unit of currency is the won (₩), with ₩10/50/100/500 coins.
Notes come in denominations of ₩1,000/5,000/10,000/50,000.
The exchange rate is subject to market fluctuations.

Mobile Phones

International and domestic calls can be made from your hotel room. Public telephones are also available throughout the hotel. Mobile phones can be rented at the airport or at major hotels. To rent a mobile phone, you will need to provide identification (passport) and a credit card.

Credit Cards

Major international credit cards are widely accepted at most hotels, department stores, restaurants, and shops. Restaurants and stores typically display signs showing which cards they accept.

Electricity

The standard voltage in Republic of Korea is 220v at 60 Hertz, and the outlet has two round holes. You may ask to borrow or purchase one from your hotel’s front desk or airport, retail stores, major duty-free shops, and even convenience stores.
